Hawaii State Plan on Aging 2023-2027
The "Hawaii State Plan on Aging 2023-2027," developed by the Hawaii Department of Health's Executive Office on Aging, provides a strategic framework to support Hawaii's aging population and persons with disabilities. It addresses the challenges of a high life expectancy and a diverse ethnic composition in the state, compounded by the high cost of living and health issues. The plan includes goals and strategies focusing on long-term services, support for caregivers, and individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, informed by community input and the impact of COVID-19. Special initiatives, such as the Kūpuna Care Program, are highlighted, showcasing efforts to improve the quality of life for older adults and enable them to age in place safely and independently.
